Designation of the Intern: Industrial Sustainability Project Leader

We develop an operator-centric, safe, clean and environmentally-friendly workplace, managing and  reducing our manufacturing footprint and promoting conservation of resources. We aim to create a workspace that integrates the latest tooling and processes for the comfort, well-being and work simplicity of our operators, while further reducing our environmental impact.


Position context:

  • Within Airbus today, we have evolving regulatory pressure guided by standards/regulations/guidelines like ISO 14001, REACH & SBTi (Science based target initiatives). 

  • Work is being done under two different pillars:

1) REACH : One of the purposes of the European Union REACH regulation is to ensure a high level of protection to human health and the environment against hazardous substances. Under REACH the use of some of these substances is banned unless an Authorization has been granted by the European Commission. 


2) CSRD : To support our CSRD engagement, there are initiatives within the Industrial department to assess, monitor and control the various impacts associated with Waste, Water, CO2, VOC & Energy. 

 

The Mission:

  • Ensure the identification of activities leading to a potential exposure to regulated substances within the industrial system

  • Improve methods, process & tools to enrich the learning path of the operators & to assess environmental impacts for industrial system


Key activities and responsibilities:

  • Support in defining the Project Planning & Structure

  • Support in defining the ‘Current state’ use-cases of the various Airbus sites 

  • Support in defining a 5 year roadmap

  • Contribute to the budget management 

  • Coordinate with Airbus sites in collection of Environmental Performance Indicators and  identify opportunities to improve sustainability performance.


Key interfaces:

  • Interface with Focal Points in the Airbus sites

  • Interface within his/her technical domain team 

  • Interface within his/her domain to support the Work Package activities as required


Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Understanding of chemical regulations like REACh and ability in Identifying regulatory risks.

  • Basic understanding of Manufacturing Industries

  • Desire to achieve project management skills

  • Knowledge of environmental impact assessment and sustainability metrics

  • English at negotiable level

  • Ability to work independently & in a team in a transnational environment

  • Assertive communication and interpersonal skills

  • On-time and on-quality deliverables
